To My Oldest Daughter On Her 9th Birthday

Kaitlyn,

I can't believe you are 9 years old! Nine years ago today God answered my prayer for a child. He gave me the most beautiful gift when He gave me you. No words can express my love to you as your mom.

You have a beautiful and kind spirit. You are a helper when I need it. You are a joy to spend time with.

I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. I woke in the middle of the night with contractions and Daddy rushed me to the hospital. A few short hours later they told me you were a girl. I knew that all along even without a doctor or a sonographer telling me. I knew you were my baby girl (Daddy thought you were a boy!) and we named you Kaitlyn Brianna.

You were the most beautiful baby I had ever seen and I could not believe they were going to let me keep you!

Two days later we took you home screaming your little head off. For four months you didn't stop and you refused to eat. I took you to the doctor countless times but I loved every minute with you. Every time you slept on me, every time I held you was the most joyous moment of my life.

Over the years I've watched you grow, become a big sister, learn to read and to find your own interests. You love animals more then babies but I still believe you will make a wonderful mother someday. I'm so glad you like to read and write (like me!) and even though you hate school you are still doing very well.

You made me a mother for the first time and I could not feel more privileged to be your mom. I pray that you will grow into the woman God has planned for you and that I will be here to see every minute of it.

I love you baby girl. Happy 9th Birthday - I pray there are many, many more to come.

Love,
Mom
